Notes from the arena champ.
The Lady of the Isle has sent her summons! I am off to join the hallowed halls of
Lord Protectors, and test my mettle against the best from all over Alastari. Either
that, or I'll be tending sheep on the Isle. Neon hasn't informed me yet.
I'll give one of our lucky Challenger Champions a chance to claim the throne from me
in one last battle here in Mordant (rather than backing into it). No last turn dark
arena for me (even though I DO have "black" in my name.) Who wants to sip from my cup
of pain? [Hey, that will make a good warrior name over in Jhelum.]
Until I next see you on the Isle of the Eye, stay frosty, Mordant. May the gods guide
your blows straight and true!

Spymaster's Report DM-1, Turn 1011
(Amathus hops out of the gate, in raggedy rabbit garb, one ear flopped lazily to the
side. His whiskers are repurposed from his rat costume the prior month ...)
Have I mentioned it is SPRING, my noble lords and ladies? A time for rebirth!
Rekindling of relations! A time for ... rejoining! YES! (He thrusts his pelvis to
the guffaws of the crowd)
No doubt the ladies of ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA are keeping their dance cards full!
Yes indeed, it is a time for getting *busy* ... with the clashing of steel and the
spilling of guts, of course! And your loyal servant RABBATHUS will proceed with the
reporting of the lore of the gore, of the mace to the face!
JUST DESSERTS were frolicking indeed, parlaying their 4-1 turn into a 12-3 record over
the last three cycles! MORDANT's sweet tooths (toothes? tooves? no matter!) cannot
get enough!
We also welcome back to the sands YUPPIE IDIOMS, whose sole warrior, standoffish YOU
DO YOU graced the sands with a four-minute masterful win over BLACK VESPERS. The
harlots of MORDANT were disappointed by the victor's disinterest in their wares, while
he took his own advice, enjoying his win in the tavern with a snifter of whiskey.
Perhaps you could spare a snort for this humble rodent, kind sir YUPPIE?
There was plenty of action at the top of the rankings as BLACK CHALICE offered sweet
surrender to CANNOLI, and again the Duelmaster's Throne changed hands along with the
obligatory (?) invite for the incoming champion! The graduating basher congratulated
himself on his immiment ascension with an *extra* three lashes in dark ecstasy,
earning him a confused look from LADY GREYWAND and a hasty change of loinclothes!
I am pleased to report that CARE LESS BEARS finally (!) exacted their revenge on
steamy SAUNA WEATHER, with the hopping mad GERIATRIC BEAR penetrating the HOMICIDAL
MANIAC's wide open "defenses." For a minute, at least, the elder BEAR was positively
*throbbing* with youth, until retiring to his quarters with a cigar and a glass of
warm milk.
(Amathus nibbles briefly on a half-rotted carrot, then tosses it into the stands)
When a man is down, there is only one way to go -- straight up! He must pull himself
upright, fully erect! Indeed he must rise from six to midnight, ladies and lords!
Cast your eyes now upon the firm and strong ALBINO, who exacted his pale revenge on
BLACK BONE, who found himself on all fours for the second straight week. Who is
pitching, indeed, BLACK BONE -- and who is catching? Ha!
Following last cycle's rainstorms, FLEET CAPTAIN plundered the wet and waiting
DAUGHTER BEAR, who was doubtless setting up the smooth-moving commander for a surprise
this time next month! The BLACK FLEET warrior was seen consulting with his team of
barristers for days thereafter!
Credit is also due KATHY, the apparent sergeant of arms over at ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA, who
proved to JUST DESSERTS that she is *firmly* on top of the initiates and is not to be
... TRIFLEd with. I think we know who wears the devices over at the sorority house!
And sadly, we know who among the sisterhood is destined for a fighting career of
disappointing rear-enders, as poor LAURA ANN found herself weeping and winless once
more. Surely some Prince will come to her rescue and give her a win, but as you know
... IT'S COMPLICATED.
What better time than Spring to talk of the Young Warriors about MORDANT! Strutting
about like the cock of the walk was ARTAX of FANTASIA, who in his maiden voyage
breached the (somewhat overtaxed!) defenses of the Commission's Own GESHI SCRIVENER,
who found himself spread-eagled on the sands frequently this cycle -- that is, until
he met up with the hapless AUTOCRAT BEAR, who apparently preferred a *submissive*
position as he gleefully received his beating from the furious scribe. "Who art thou
calling *dyslexic* !?!?" the enraged GESHI was heard to be shouting as he pummelled
the teddy tyrant, shedding tears of dark joy.
HUNDINGSBANA returned to Old MORDANT with conquest on his mind, taking on all comers.
And then he received news of his matchup with dread BENO -- followed by eight minutes
of parries, gaseous emenatations, dodges, and finally, tired, spent exhaustion.
Laying there on the sands, the losing (yet strangely satisfied) HUN offered the POINT
GUARD a puff on his cigarette; bold BENO's reply: "no thanks, one drag is enough!"
YOU DO YOU, BENO! Ha!
Liberally using the DARK ARENA this cycle were FANTASIA, who drugged their warriors
into a stupor before shoving them out into the night fight with nary but BLACK
CHALICE's used loinclothes and a shaft of limp broccoli. No doubt we will be *graced*
by the appearance of a new generation of warriors anon ... either that, or more grist
for SHEWISH GIANT, who was seen gnoshing on the limbs of FIGURETI and KING ZOG in his
arenaside cage. He even allowed some of the waifs of MORDANT to paint vernal flowers
on his leg! What a lovable lug!
I'm pleased to report that the slashers of MORDANT found their whestones and sobriety
and managed a barely-respectable .500 showing this cycle. No doubt the booze shortage
and brothels contributed to the spring in their steps!
As evening falls, even this dirty, humble rabbit must take his leave and spring forth
to find some ... bunny ... to love! Wish me fortune, friends, for those gifted in
the glib arts are oft unlucky in the ways of romance. But even a fool can get lucky!

SUMMER FACE-TO-FACE IN MINNEAPOLIS!
Our summer Face-to-Face is in the midwest again this year, and we're going back to the
Twin Cities! We hope you will join us at our summer FTF in Bloomington, MN on July 12-
14, 2024! It will be held at the Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport (800-317-8143).
Room rates are $164/$174 for king and 2 doubles suites respectively, and all have free
high speed internet and all the Embassy goodness (free made-to-order breakfast,
complimentary manager's reception, airport shuttle, indoor pool, business center and
on-site restaurant. The rooms are blocked and the code is "915."
