My responses will be in blue.

okay Mr. Ichabod, this brings up another question (hopefully I havn't become an irritant yet)

Heh, hardly that. I was able to talk to Gameogre over the course of a 1000+ post thread, after all.

you mentioned skill base (per style) and in regards to the PR you mention how horrible it is, then you say how solid the AIM is. According to the charts the PR is the worst in defense, but the AIM has a HORRIBLE attack and a very bad init. Also they have the highest total skill point deduction.

Now taking into effect that an AIM gets double attack from DF normals out the attack deficiency, but how does one overcome the initiative deductions?

The difference is that the double attack, as you said, overcomes that attack penalty. It also means that only 21 DF aimed-blows really are top-notch. Attack and defense are the key skills in this game, and with PR's having near-bottom attack and parry and the worst defense in the game, that pretty much writes them off at all levels - they can't defend themselves at the bottom and can't even compete at the extreme top. You CAN win with them - I just graduated a 15-2 PR - but it's very very difficult. Init, on the other hand, isn't really worth very much. It's handy when you have a lot and your opponent can't riposte, but that's really about it. Since aimed blows learn attack, riposte, and defense, they don't need init. Hell, I won't even wait for init and decise to even come close to maxxing before going into stat trains on an aimer. Basically, you don't overcome the init deduction, but rather just ignore it, since it has no effect on the game.

The other strength of AB's, btw, is that they get a major defense bonus when fighting open-handed, which really only comes into play in ADM.

Going back on the premise that I will be running AIMs and PRs I'd like support info in those areas. It seems that the 3 best places for Init are WIT, DF, and SPD. going into an AIM with a max WIT and DF is already a priority, but if I dump on speed where will my Init come from?

Or am I even needing init for an AIM?

See above

Oh and Slasher is easily my 3rd favorite style, and is about all I ran ever so long ago.

Thanks for the info provided so far, I appreciate the assistance in getting this "New" manager back into the game!

Actually I may be worse than new, it seems all my misconceptions may hinder me more than having no knowledge at all Crying or Very sad

Seraphim

LOL You'll be in good company - there are a lot of players returning these days. Must be something in the water.
