I have two decent options for the summer Face-to-Face, both for the weekend of July 12-14, 2024:
Option #1: Minneapolis, at the airport Embassy Suites. They'd give us a room that's about 1200 sq ft (not huge but doable) and sleeping rooms would be $164 king/$174 double. It has the nice Embassy breakfast plus free wifi (in meeting space and guest rooms), free shuttle to the airport and Mall of America, $10/night parking. There is a pool.
Option #2: Chicago, at the airport Doubletree where we were in 2014. The room is about 1500 sq ft, sleeping rooms are $179/night. It has a free shuttle to the airport, $15 parking ($15 in/out parking is across the street at the Embassy), and free wifi in the guest rooms only. Meeting space wifi is very high ($23/person/day). No pool.
I favor Minneapolis simply because I'm very grumpy about the meeting space wifi. What are your thoughts?

As a destination, Chicago is hard to beat. The bigger meeting space might be handy, too. But the wifi issue seems to be an understandable deal-killer for you operationally.

The Allied Axis is obviously in favor of the Minneapolis F2F. It is a nice location, have held many meetings there over the years, I believe it comes with a 100% Fun Guarantee, which is hard to find these days.

Dallas? It is north central time.
Chicago - easier to get to for most.
Minny - would have to give in to that dratted AA bunch!
Chicago - cretins on that wifi
Minny - long time, no see
Chicago - we know it "works"
Minny - love the Embassy Suites
Sadly, and amazingly, I lean Minny.
(but would go to either)

Thus far, our summer FTF has always been east of the Mississippi, which counts out Denver, Vegas, Dallas/Ft. Worth, etc. I figure we have one out west every year in Tempe and would like to have the other one on the other side of the country.
For Chicago: It's possible that the public wifi would reach into the meeting space (the Duet room). Or it's possible we could hotspot. I would probably pay the stupid fees just to be sure and feel really icky about it. *sigh*
Chicago's more of a destination. The Embassy has a pool. Somebody should probably check the baseball schedule.

Minneapolis is the best option by far we all know this.

While I would love to take the family to Chicago, I can't argue with how much cheaper it would be to go to Minneapolis.
I have to vote for Minny.

I took a poll of roughly four people and will include the results for all in a single post instead of drawing out the thread like ChiefI pulling, well, a thread.
I vote Minneapolis. Myself votes Minneapolis. Me votes Minneapolis.
Jerman has no preference so I will put his vote in the Minneapolis bucket.
I ran into a homeless man recently. It was tragic, and I offered him solace and a sammich. I think he reached out to me as I passed by because, unbeknownst to me, he also plays Duelmasters.
I paused to look at him. Scruffy, unkempt. A bit of odeur. Old eyes in a weary face. Intrigued, I looked closer. "Who are you?"
"I'm Dense."
"I figured as much, but who are you?"
"In Duelmasters, I run a broken down alliance that cleverly took an old board game and reversed it's name because that is as much creativity as I could manage."
